Restoration of Victoria House Complete
The restoration and conversion of Victoria House is now complete and tenants have now moved in.
Victoria House, an elegant Victorian hospital building which had become redundant and fallen into disrepair, has been converted to provide a total of 10,000 sq.m (107,640 sq.ft) of high quality, modern office space. The building will now be home to the Homerton College, Cambridge School of Health Studies and the Eastern Region Office of the NHS Executive.
The redevelopment of Capital Park has involved the demolition of several redundant, unattractive, modern buildings and extensions to leave as much of the original Victorian building as possible. The retained buildings include a former upholstery block which will now provide student rest areas. The former chapel has been converted into a conference facility and a floor has been inserted in the former main hall to provide space for a library above.
i2 Ltd. Headquarters Takes Shape.
The 2,322 sq.m (25,000 sq.ft) headquarters building for Cambridge-based technology company i2 Ltd is coming out of the ground fast. This is Capital Parks first new building and is due for completion in March 2001.
Speculative Construction Gets Underway.
Work started in October 2000 on the Park's largest new building CPC1, a prestigious 4,515 sq.m (48,585 sq.ft) three-storey headquarters building. Set in 40 acres of mature landscaped grounds, the new building will have 229 parking spaces, equivalent to a generous ratio of one space to 212 sq.ft net.
The air-conditioned building is being constructed to a high quality specification in two wings linked by an impressive atrium reception area. It will be ready for occupation by Autumn 2001.
We are preparing to let space in units from 8,000 sq.ft and are able to offer occupiers flexibility in terms of lease length and the services that can be offered through our Capital Services and Qudos operations. CPC1 will have a built in high speed fibre optic backbone, providing immediate connectivity.
